Who is Prichard Colon Mendelez?
He is an American boxer originally born in Puerto Rico. Colon was born on September 19, 1992, and is 28 years old as of 2021. His physical stature is masculine and athletic. His height is 6ft while his weight is considered Light middleweight. This is also called super welterweight as in the boxing terminology. This means he weighs between 147 and 154 pounds.
Before being injured he had a very toned body as was the requirement of his playing sport. He has remained a gold medalist in the 2010 Pan American Youth Contest in the 64 kg group. His complexion is towards the fair brunette side with brown eyes and hair. Considering that he was born in September, Colon’s star sign is a Virgo. Such a male has several other creative interests along with his career passions. He is dedicated to hard work that eventually pays off.
Prichard Colon has yet again set an example for millions of fans who see him as a role model. Starting from 2013 he has had 17 wins in his professional career. He was made pro in 2012 and finally made a debut in February, 2013. Up till his last match, he remained an undefeated champion. Quite unfortunately his last fight landed him in a serious health condition. This led him to abandon his career forever. Everyone grieved over this misfortune and missed watching their favorite boxer take the victory in the ring.

what happened to Prichard Colon? In October 2015, Prichard Colón stood up against his opponent, Terrel Williams. Previously Colon had an undefeated record of 16-0. He had been victorious in combat against Vivian Haris and thus was beaming with confidence. In his last fight Prichard Colon fight not only lost the match but also his boxing career for he suffered a cut on the brain that could have been fatal. During the fight, Colon had repeatedly complained about Terrel’s rabbit punches which were actually illegal.
However, his protests were not paid heed by the referees present. In response, Prichard colon what happened served a low blow to defend himself but the referee quickly penalized him for his wrong move. In the final and seventh round, Terrel drew his right hand straight to the back of Colon’s head. Colon was obviously in pain as he covered the back of his head with his glove. Nevertheless the authorities including the ringside physician, Dr. Richard Ashby neglected his complaints.
The rabbit punch caused Terrel to lose some of his points. Still the fight continued up until the ninth round and Colon staggered. Finally Prichard Colon left the ring dizzy with his arms draping as he uttered that he could not see before blacking out. He had a 1.5 cm brain bleed that leaked into his skull. If conditions had deteriorated, he might not even have made it alive to the tenth round. He stayed in a months-long coma and then retired to a vegetative state. He was not able to carry out the basic tasks and needed a lot of assistance. Prichard Colon’s parents were concerned that the doctors’ reports did not give them very hopeful news. According to medical analysis there was a mark on the CT scan. It showed a black spot that may be too large for Colon to recover. Despite this, Prichard’s family and especially his mother, Nieves, haven’t given up.

Nieves along with Colon’s speech pathologist, Alisha Russel have put in countless efforts to help the former boxer recuperate. On June 9th, 2021 Nieves posted several videos on Facebook that showed Colon’s progress. His mother thanked Colon’s fans around the world for their prayers and blessings.
